Changes to Mandatory Reporter Requirements

In 2019, HF 731 modified the requirements for mandatory reporter training for child and dependent adult abuse. The Iowa Department of Human Services is now providing the trainings online for free. The AEA is also providing the same trainings online free for all district employees, public and non-public. Be sure to complete both child and dependent adult abuse trainings.

Mandatory reporter training completed prior to July 1, 2019 will still be valid for five years from the date of completion.

Trainings completed after July 1, 2019, will be valid for three years. These are the NEW trainings and are two hours each. The trainings are now separate for child and dependent adult abuse, and both are required.

After completing the new trainings, you can complete refresher trainings. We cannot accept the one-hour refresher trainings unless you have previously taken these NEW two-hour trainings.
