Coaching

Coaching for Iowa K-12 Schools

To be a licensed coach (even volunteer) for any Iowa School, the coach needs one of the license types listed on the next page. Once licensed, the license type and expiration for all coaches is public record available at the following site:  Search for a license

Applying for the wrong license type or submitting an incomplete will double the processing time.

Fees are non-refundable.

Read the application carefully & submit all required documents.

Status Checking After Application is Made

Your application is not in line to be processed until it says, “Pending Internal Review”.  Feel free to log on and show your submit date to your school official.  From that date, expect 1-3 weeks for a new license, 2-4 weeks for a renewal, and 1-3 days for an extension.  All applications and renewals are processed in the order received.  If we can issue a temporary coaching permit, we will do so automatically.  When/if that happens, the applicant will be notified via e-mail. We no longer expedite applications at admin/AD request.  To monitor the progress of your application, keep checking your email and the web site link above.  Click here for tips on expediting your application.
