Completion of a full state of Iowa approved teacher preparation program (except for the required completion assessments) for college semester hour credit including meeting at least one of our endorsement requirements. A position offer in Iowa is required, and the district must show a diligent search.
Hold a Class A Extension or Class B Conditional license, and need one final extension to meet the renewal or coursework requirements. Coursework progress during the term of the Class A Extension or Class B conditional license, proof of registration in additional coursework, and administrator signature is required.

Hold an initial, standard, master, or regional exchange teaching license, have a position offer in a new endorsement area, and after a diligent search, the district shows that no properly endorsed applicants were available.
Hold an initial, standard, master, or regional exchange teaching license, have a position offer in a new endorsement area, and have 1/2 of the required coursework complete.
Completion of a full state-approved teacher preparation program for college semester hour credits from a regionally-accredited institution outside Iowa, and coursework deficiencies were identified after a BoEE transcript review. Applicants who have completed non-traditional programs should contact our office before applying to determine eligibility.
Master's degree and 5 years of teaching experience.
In most cases the holder of a Standard Teaching License will convert to the Master Educator License at the next renewal after meeting the requirements.
